Carlton Town FC

A trip to Nottinghamshire, to Carlton Town, a win vs Rugby Borough would see Carlton top of the league, they achieved it with a 2-1 win. More York links, Ashley Chambers in the Carlton line up and Lindon Meikle playing for Rugby Borough.

Excellent set up at Carlton, some cover and seating if you require, the standard sausage cob from round these parts did the job, shame they had run out of bacon though. An excellent pin badge from the Irish supporters club, an interesting link to the club, noticeably there was also a lot of Irish music being played over the tannoy. Also in the Retro sweets sponsored bar, i was able to get a couple of bags of 50p mixes to kellingleyep my sweet tooth quiet. Raffle ticket for £2, very happy to say although I didn't win, they announced the winners very clearly, a lot of clubs don't bother telling you if your ticket won or not.

Another interesting fact about Carlton, they accept bitcoin as payment, there's not too many clubs do that and for one at the level Carlton are, they are a bit of a trailblazer with that one. Not sure how many people actually do it. You can also buy a range of bitcoin themed merchandise on the online club shop.

The game itself, Carlton were a good organised unit but did tire towards the final quarter, though they hung on. Meikle was busy for Rugby, more than he ever was for York but maybe he has found his level. Still a deserved win for Carlton, although another 10 minutes and this one would probably have finished level.

Drove to the game, down the M1 and along to the A1 going back, straight forward enough both ways. Again if arriving on public transport into Nottingham, it would be a bus out to the ground, too far to walk. If you don't want to eat in the ground there is also an excellent retail park about a mile along from the ground with all the usual fast food outlets available and plenty of parking.
