Llanelli Town FC
A trip to deepest South Wales awaited me this weekend for Llanelli Town FC, the new boys to the Cymru Premier, their opposition was Colwyn Bay, one of the better supported Welsh teams, in terms of numbers.
The ground has an imposing, very unique main stand, it's really impressive, the seating is nice and spacious too which is a rarity even in modern grounds. The cafe was rally busy with options on the wall, coloured card cut into star shapes, I couldn't take it all in so just went for a meat and potato pasty as I was next in line. Had a good conversation with the locals trying to guess where I was from, I think they got as near as Bolton before I got fed up and had to tell them. Pin badges and other merchant was also available from inside here, it was really organised and couldn't fault the amount of choice with either food or merch, impressed!
Had a good wander around the town beforehand and have to say I was impressed with that too went in a decent cafe in the market for some pre match food and got the best fruit loaf cake I think I've ever tasted off of a couple of old ladies raising money for a sea cadets charity.
The game ended in a creditable draw for Llanelli, who are finding it tough at this level and will probably still make an instant return to Cymru South.
After the game chaos ensued, as all trains back to Cardiff were cancelled due to flooding, I waited an absolute age on Llanelli station wondering what the hell I was going to do. Then just when I'd given up all hope, randomly a minibus turned up, with no prior warning, to take people to Swansea, I got on, just, it was 16 seated and full. Upon arrival at Swansea I boarded a Great Western Railway train to Cardiff, even though my ticket was for Transport for Wales, they were really reluctant to let me on but the fact of the matter is there was no Transport for Wales trains so I was getting on regardless, the lady in the 1st class buffet coach was a big help with this, unlike some of her ticketing colleagues.
