Marine FC

My visit to Marine on this Friday night was a bonus, I had intended to visit FC St Helens but they instead postponed their home game to visit the Isle of Man instead.

It wasn't Marine first team in action, it was FA Youth Cup action vs Stockport Town, ironically the winners would go on to play York City in the next round.

An imposing stand behind the goal greets you as you enter the stadium with another smaller one behind the other goal, a small slither of covered terrace along one of the sides is where I took my position. Marine have done well to get to conference north level and are probably punching above their weight.

Onto the game and it was typical Youth Cup, frantic, 100 mph, some good passing and end to end, Stockport Town emerged as winners with an excellent away performance.

Food wise I had an excellent mo salah balti pie in the ground on recommendation from the server, I also visited the railway inn in Liverpool at lunchtime for an outstanding portion of scouse.

A nod to York City supporter XLB, as I was walking to the ground I happened to notice a XLB YCFC sticker on the street sign, probably been stuck there since city played them in pre season in the summer!

To get to the ground get off the mersey rail at Crosby and Blundell sands, walk along the high street past the co op and the ground is further along on the right.
