West Auckland Town FC
A midweek night driver up to West Auckland for the league game vs Shildon, Auckland could be forgiven for having one eye on the following game, a huge FA Cup tie vs Spennymoor.
Auckland were sluggish throughout the match, Shildon racing into a 2 goal lead and it could have been more, a late consolation for Auckland did nothing to mask a deserved win for impressive Shildon. An impressive crowd turned out, 411 and for Auckland all eyes were now to be on the cup.
The ground is impressive, with many articles dotted about telling of their famous history, theres hot food and drink on offer and a decent sized bar, I found a chip shop in West Auckland beforehand for Scampi and chips and as an added bonus a battered mars bar for afters.
West Auckland is very isolated and I would recommend driving if possible although I did notice buses running through to Newcastle and Durham but how regular they are, I'm not sure.
