Ealandians vs Ryburn United
It was cup final duty at Fleet Lane in Woodlesford for the West Yorkshire Amateur League Cup Final. There was a healthy crowd of around 180 in attendance with the majority supporting Ryburn. The Ryburn fans incidentally were a funny bunch who decided to come in last minute and stand on half way right in front of the seats, despite there being plenty of designated standing areas and despite old people being sat down, it's just the way people are now unfortunately but well done to the old lad who told them to shift, they did so but not with out replying to him, why can't you stand up! Unbelievable really.
Anyway admission was £5 and £2 which I thought was a bit steep for adults but there was a free programme handed out at the gate. Refreshments were available with some good meal deals on offer and plenty of hot drinks on a breezy evening. The game got underway and both teams were giving it a real good go with it meaning a lot to both, probably the pinnacle of some of these players careers and you could tell. Ryburn took the lead with a well worked goal and smart finish much to raucous celebration in the crowd before Ealandians came back strong just before the whistle and capitalised on a goalkeeper error for a simple tap in, all square at the break.
Ryburn were slowly becoming dominant and went back in front soon after before bagging a third and then just seeing the game out despite Ealandiands throwing the kitchen sink at it.
A good occasion in an excellent facility and as the whistle for full time went the cup and medal presentation began.
