Everton FC
A break from the norm for me here, as I move from my usual non league fixtures to a Premier League fixture to visit the shiny new and very impressive Bramley Dock Stadium, or Hill Dickinson Stadium as it is named. The opponents Tottenham Hotspur, so I was looking forward to a high quality game.
The result was 0-3 to Tottenham, Micky Van der Ven with a brace and former toffee and late substitute Richarlison with the 3rd, Everton never really got going, Beto ploughing a lone furrow, Grealish busy but in effective, some var controversy disallowed a goal, to me this needs scrapping, does nothing for the game at all in my opinion, but it wasn't the reason Everton lost and it was a thoroughly deserved win for Spurs who themselves didn't seem to hit top gear.
To get in to the game I had to book a hospitality package, at the princely sum of £204. A world away from what I'm used to, I'd normally do 10-20 games for that kind of money, but I have to say the ground really is spectacular and in a stunning location that will only improve with time. I did receive a free programme and £10 food credit loaded onto my ticket, with which I purchased a very tasty chicken and mushroom pie and a can of corona. I had an excellent seat on the top tier on halfway, although for a a new stadium the leg room was still a bit tight. I was now reinstated as a member of the 92 club with this visit and I have to say it'll take something special for any other new builds to better this ground. Plenty going on outside too, plenty of badge and merchandise sellers, an automated beer vending machine (never seen that before) and a stage with DJ entertainment playing.
I'm a big advocate of the non league game and can honestly say, purely for the football on offer give me non league any day, but it made a change as a one off game. If anything was disappointing about the ground it was probably the club shop, a lack of range of badges, mucb better stocked street vendors outside.
I'm sure with this facility and under the steady guidance of David Moyes there will be brighter times for the Toffees.
I walked both to and from the ground about 40 minutes from Lime Street Station, Sandhills on the mersey rail is the nearest station, I believe there is too a range of buses but good luck with the traffic afterwards. If you are able a steady walk is your best bet.
